DETROIT -- Michael Fulmer spent the break representing the Tigers at the 2017 MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard, even though he was inactive. He returned in time to hear the buzz of trade rumors sending him out of Detroit.
"I hear it," Fulmer said Friday. "If it's on social media, I see it, I hear it. But it's just rumors. I'm just going to pitch for the Tigers and go win every fifth day."
The rumors were short-lived. While the Tigers and Cubs were trying to find any common ground on a potential Justin Verlander trade, only to be thwarted by disagreements over Verlander's contract, the Cubs reportedly raised the idea of acquiring Fulmer instead.
