SEATTLE – Alex Wilson’s hands were on his hips.
The baseball had yet to land behind the leftfield fence, but once it was hit, there was no doubt it would. And as Mike Zunino rounded the bases after turning a spinning slider into a laser home run, the Detroit Tigers’ reliever stood there just off the mound, hands on his hips, frustrated and confused all the same.
“It feels like I’m doing everything right, right now,” Wilson said. “And the results just aren’t there."
It was Wilson who allowed the biggest home run in Monday night’s series opener against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field, not starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez, like many would have predicted.
