Nobody sang “Kumbayah.”
But it was close.
There was a relaxed, breezy vibe this afternoon, as Detroit Tigers’ ownership, management and the players came together for an annual luncheon at the Detroit Economic Club.
Granted, they were all, predictably, putting on happy faces, even amid the Tigers’ struggles so far this season.
But it was still intriguing, just watching Chris Ilitch interact with Tigers manager Brad Ausmus.
Ilitch, representing his father, Tigers’ owner Mike Ilitch, stood at the podium in front of a crowd of 1,100 in a ballroom at MotorCity Casino during a question-and-answer session.
