Baseball players are a little strange. That’s probably true of a lot of professional athletes, but baseball players are notorious for their propensity toward superstition. Whether it’s baseball-wide superstitions like not stepping on the baseline, not talking about a no-hitter (or not even speaking to the pitcher while one is being thrown), but there are plenty of unusual individual player superstitions as well.

Jason Giambi would wear a gold thong whenever he was in a slump. Mark Teixeira once mixed up one of his socks with CC Sabathia’s and wore a 25 and 52 and thought it gave him good luck.
