ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — It wasn’t the start the Detroit Tigers had hoped for.
But somehow, on a Monday night that began with a Ronny Rodriguez leadoff walk, they turned an early blowout into a typical, weird, Tropicana Field game.
Francisco Liriano allowed five runs in the first inning but the Tigers chipped away and evened the score in the seventh.
Louis Coleman gave the lead right back, allowing two runs on three hits, but the Tigers answered in the eighth to tie the game.

It wasn’t enough, though, as they fell, 10-9, on a walk-off single by Daniel Robertson in the 10th inning.
