KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Javier Báez holds himself accountable.
He knows he is getting beat by fastballs, sliders and everything in between.
"I got to play better," he said.
Báez took ownership of his season-long struggles in front of his locker in the visitor's clubhouse before Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The hood of his sweatshirt covered most of his head, but he didn't hide his face. He looked and sounded frustrated, but he answered every question thrown his way. The former two-time All-Star, a World Series champion, pointed his finger at the man in the mirror.
