I would be hard pressed to find a better walk up song in recent history than Ian Kinsler using Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition.” The song (which he still uses with the Angels) is the perfect baseball walk up song, especially for a Detroit player. It’s got a recognizable beat, and it also plays on the rich baseball tradition of players having elaborate and unique superstitions to get them through the season. In the case of Kinsler in Detroit, using a Stevie Wonder song was also a great nod to the Michigan-born music legend.
Kinsler’s secondary song was Jack White’s “Lazaretto” which was also a genius selection: White is another Detroit-native musician, and also Kinsler’s business partner at Warstic bats.
