Ex-Tigers Pudge, Magglio among new names on Hall of Fame list

Fan favorites Pudge Rodriguez and Magglio Ordoñez were two of five former Tigers who debuted on the 2017 Hall of Fame ballot released Monday by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

In 21 seasons, Rodriguez was a 14-time All-Star, which included four appearances in the All-Star Game as a Tiger during his five-year career in Detroit in 2004-08. The catcher hit .298 with 709 hits, 300 runs, 300 RBIs and 62 home runs for the Tigers.

After eight years with the Chicago White Sox, Ordoñez, an outfielder, spent his final seven seasons in Detroit in 2005-11. He finished with 1,167 hits, 703 RBIs and 187 home runs while batting .
