Jim Leyland’s life in baseball was told on Tuesday night.
From former players to coaches, opposing managers and friends, the former Detroit Tigers manager’s career was highlighted in a MLB Network special, “Jim Leyland: A Life in Baseball.”
The show was hosted by Bob Costas and focused on his journey from a minor league catcher with the Tigers to becoming a successful major league manager destined for the Hall of Fame.
“He’s the deepest, most knowledgeable baseball man that is still living,” longtime friend Tony La Russa said. “He was one of the most amazing leaders in our sport at any time.
