Chris Shelton is best remembered for a stunning start to the 2006 season, and the memory of it remains fresh to this day for the former Detroit Tigers first baseman.
"I can still see and still go through just about every at bat through that whole month of April," Shelton said of his headline-grabbing start.
For a player with just one season under his belt who was far from anointed the starting first baseman coming out of spring, Shelton quickly rose from unknown to national story. He was 14 of 20 after five games, was the first player to hit nine home runs in his first 13 games when he opened 24 of 51 at the plate.
