DETROIT -- It's still early, but a change of scenery has not yet helped struggling Detroit Tigers slugger Steven Moya.
Demoted to Double-A Erie this week, Moya has gone 0-for-8 with five strikeouts since arriving, which is pretty much what he's been doing for much of the year at Triple-A Toledo.
Moya was hitting .166 with the Mud Hens, with a whopping 61 strikeouts in 162 plate appearances. A year ago, the biggest question was his defensive ability. Now his bat appears to have a big hole.
"One of the biggest mysteries to me is how he is not in the big leagues playing every day," Erie Seawolves manager Lance Parrish told the Erie Times-News.
