Warwick Saupold pitched well for the Detroit Tigers.

Fellow right-hander Drew VerHagen did not.

Saupold continued to excel in his mop-up duty role, allowing two hits over 3 1/3 scoreless innings in the Tigers' 7-5 loss to the Pirates this afternoon at Comerica Park.

He walked one and struck out two.

VerHagen allowed six runs on nine hits over 3 2/3 innings in his second start this season for the Tigers. He walked one and struck out one.
