It was one of Dave Dombrowski's finest deadline deals in Detroit, even if most folks didn't recognize Doug Fister's name as the key component when the trade went down.
Fister had a 1.79 ERA in 11 appearances with the Tigers in 2011, and was part of three straight AL Central champion teams before being traded himself.
Now, Dombrowski is hoping to capture some of that magic again.
Fister started Sunday for the Boston Red Sox, his first appearance in the majors in 2017. He pitched six innings and gave up three earned runs in a 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.
