DETROIT -- Two weeks ago, it would have been easy to scoff at Anthony Gose's attempted conversion from center fielder to left-handed relief pitcher.
After all, he'd just suffered another blowup with Class A (Advanced) Lakeland. Abandoned by his control, he allowed four earned runs and retired just one batter in a game at Clearwater on June 15.
Overall, his prospects were looking bleak.
But since then, Gose hasn't allowed a run, a hit or -- most importantly -- a walk in five innings of work. He's struck out eight during that perfect span, including three strikes Thursday night in Daytona Beach.
