BALTIMORE -- Before Justin Upton's go-ahead grand slam on Friday night, there was another critical moment in the Detroit Tigers' 5-2 victory.
And what exactly happened on the play depends on your perspective.
With two on and one out in the bottom of the seventh, Tigers starter threw a pitch up and in on Baltimore Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph.
At first it looked like the ball might have hit him near the head.
"The first thing everybody's thinking is, 'Oh my god, I hope he's not dead.' That's my thought, anyway," Verlander said.
Joseph was in fact hit on the wrist.
