The Detroit Tigers and Cleveland postponed Tuesday's game, scheduled for 7:10 p.m., because of rain at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Rainfall began Tuesday evening and didn't show signs of letting up.
The second matchup in the three-game series has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 4:10 p.m. as part of a straight doubleheader. The seven-inning series finale is set to be played about 30 minutes after the first seven-inning matchup ends.
Right-hander Jose Urena is scheduled to start the first game, and righty Wily Peralta will start the second game.
In Monday's series opener, Cleveland crushed the Tigers, 13-5, behind five RBIs from switch-hitting slugger Jose Ramirez.
