The relationship between Nicholas Castellanos and the Detroit Tigers organization has seemed rocky all season long. Set to reach free agency at the end of the season, the 27-year-old outfielder is most certainly on the Tigers’ trading block but has seemingly garnered limited interest, at least until now.
According to a report from Chris McCosky of The Detroit News on Sunday afternoon, the Chicago Cubs have emerged as a “serious suitor” for Castellanos. McCosky’s source is anonymous but confirmed Chicago’s interested in acquiring a corner outfielder such as Castellanos at the deadline, with Cubs scouts following him over the past week.
