The Detroit Tigers decided to make a late move, even amid the most uncertain trade deadline in MLB history.
Outfielder Cameron Maybin was traded to the Chicago Cubs just as the 4 p.m. trade deadline ceased Monday, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.
The Tigers' return for Maybin is not immediately clear.
But it's clear Avila, who wouldn't call the Tigers buyers or sellers this year, was able to get what he thinks is the right price for Maybin. Detroit is 16-16 with 28 games remaining in the shortened season, just two games out of the American League's final playoff spot.
