The Detroit Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4, on Wednesday afternoon, thanks to Dixon Machado's walk-off home run to lead off the ninth inning.
After squandering a late lead by allowing three runs in the top of the eighth inning, the Tigers answered with a three-run home run from John Hicks. Celebrating his 35th birthday, Miguel Cabrera homered. Matthew Boyd pitched brilliantly, throwing 6 1/3 innings and allowing one run on two hits. The run came on a solo home run by Danny Valencia. For the second straight game, Jeimer Candelario homered.
