The Detroit Tigers had a chance to win the series against the Boston Red Sox (70-31). But after limiting the Red Sox to one run in the first 18 innings of the series, the Tigers allowed six runs in the first four innings Sunday. The Tigers (42-59) went on to lose, 9-1 at Comerica Park in a game that was delayed 95 minutes at the start due to rain.
Hardly to blame on Hardy
Lefty Blaine Hardy, getting the start with Michael Fulmer on the disabled list, allowed two runs in the second inning and two more in a four-run fourth inning.
