A year after Chris Smith signed a minor-league deal with the Detroit Tigers, then suffered a season-ending elbow injury, the team is giving him another shot.
The Tigers have signed him to a minor-league deal again, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
After signing with the Tigers in December 2018, the journeyman right-hander injured his arm while throwing his first live batting practice session of the spring.
