Casey Mize's season is over.
Mize, the Detroit Tigers' No. 1 overall draft pick in 2018, has been shut down for the season, the Tigers confirmed to the Free Press on Wednesday.
Mize was 8-4 with a 2.71 ERA between Double-A Erie and High-A Lakeland this season. With Erie, he was 6-3 with a 3.20 ERA, including a no-hitter in his Double-A debut.
Mize, the No. 2 prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, was put on the 10-day injured list with minor inflammation in his right throwing shoulder June 13.
