Can they make 1984 happen again?
Can they follow the blueprint from the 1970s and build a championship team through the draft, let the young prospects develop in the minors for a few years and then bring them up basically at the same time?
It’s so easy. All they have to do is select two Hall of Famers in one draft, like they did in 1976 when the Tigers took shortstop Alan Trammell in the second round and right-handed pitcher Jack Morris in the fifth (98th overall).
