Detroit Tigers send OF Nate Schierholtz to minors

The Detroit Tigers today assigned outfielder Nate Schierholtz to minor league camp.

The Tigers now have 32 players in major league camp and have to pare their roster to 25 by Opening Day on Tuesday.

In recent days, the Tigers have jettisoned Steven Moya and Dixon Machado, Matt Boyd, Wynton Bernard, John Mayberry Jr. and Raffy Lopez, and Bruce Rondon, Bobby Parnell and Casey McGehee from major league camp. They also traded backup catcher Bryan Holaday to the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.
