KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ron Gardenhire was yelling. He was pointing at first base. He was doing everything he could to draw John Hicks’ attention.
And after it was all said and done on Sunday afternoon, the veteran manager was once again taking the blame for another Detroit Tigers loss. Though there were a number of factors that went into the team’s eighth loss in the past 12 games, it was a third inning lapse of communication which stuck in his craw as the team departed for Texas.
“We had one bad inning out there defensively,” he said.
