LAKELAND, Fla. — Nicholas Castellanos is not yet here, spending the final days of his uncertain offseason with his son, Liam, in South Florida, where his ears could have been ringing Thursday morning.
Hundreds of miles away in Tiger Town, Castellanos was the talk of manager Ron Gardenhire’s post-workout media session with reporters.
Castellanos, the persistent subject of trade rumors all winter and also the Detroit Tigers’ expected every day rightfielder, is scheduled to report to spring training this weekend, before the team’s first formal full-squad workout Monday.
