Ron Gardenhire and Alan Trammell recalled the kindness Rusty Staub showed them as young baseball players.

Staub, known as Le Grand Orange, died early Thursday morning at age 73.

Staub signed with the Houston Colt .45’s as an amateur free agent in September 1961. He played 23 seasons with the Colt .
