Detroit Tigers RHP Michael Lorenzen scratched from start with groin tightness

LAKELAND, Fla. — A member of the Detroit Tigers' projected starting rotation has suffered an injury for the first time this spring training.

Right-hander Michael Lorenzen, who signed a one-year, $10 million contract in the offseason, was scratched from Monday's start against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 31-year-old reported groin tightness during his conditioning Sunday.

In his place, right-handed reliever Trey Wingenter takes the mound in the first inning for the beginning of a bullpen-only game. The Tigers expect to have an update on Lorenzen's health Tuesday.
