DETROIT - With the Detroit Tigers (maybe?) opening their 2017 season today in Chicago, the crews back in Detroit are preparing for the home opener at Comerica Park on Friday.
While the media were at the ballpark Monday covering the lifting of a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and Equinox to the Chevrolet Fountain in center field, a few noticed something different about the field.
The Tigers grounds crew have put in a "Mr. I" design in center field, in remembrance of late team owner Mike Ilitch, who died February 10.
Players are donning patches this season on their uniform.
