Detroit Tigers remain one play, one pitch short in 5-3 loss to White Sox

Detroit Tigers rookie Travis Demeritte is learning that playing right field at Comerica Park can be tricky.

Demeritte, acquired from the Atlanta Braves in last week’s Shane Greene trade and making his second home start, seemed to struggle in Detroit's spacious outfield in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

In the 5-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox, Demeritte misjudged Jose Abreu’s double in the fifth inning, allowing the go-ahead run to score in a 2-2 tie.

Though he wasn’t charged with an error since it was a running attempt, the ball glanced off Demeritte’s glove and most likely should have been caught.
