LAKELAND, Fla. – The first Detroit Tigers pitchers have hit the injury report.
Left-hander Justin Wilson and closer Francisco Rodriguez have sore hamstrings, manager Brad Ausmus said.
Both relievers were scheduled to make their Grapefruit League debuts Wednesday against the Washington Nationals but did not.
Neither situation could be classified as concerning, Ausmus said, but Rodriguez’s situation carries an extra air of importance. In a few days, he will be heading to Arizona to play for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic.
To this point, he has thrown only bullpen sessions on the back fields in Tiger Town.
