KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Four days after he predicted he would start receiving questions on when JaCoby Jones would move up in the Detroit Tigers’ batting order – Jones was doing just fine hitting ninth – manager Ron Gardenhire has moved Jones up.
All the way up.
Jones – the Tigers’ hottest hitter for the past three weeks – was in the leadoff spot for Wednesday night’s game against the Royals.
More on Jones:
Gardenhire’s hand was likely forced when Niko Goodrum – the Tigers’ leadoff hitter for the past three weeks – left Tuesday night’s 3-2 loss with a right knee contusion, after fouling a pitch directly off his kneecap.
