LAKELAND, Fla. — When Detroit Tigers prospect Tarik Skubal threw his last pitch Monday, a 98 mph swinging strike on Bobby Dalbec, it meant a little more.
Of course, when he threw his first pitch, it also meant a little more.
That’s because Monday’s 11-11 tie against the Boston Red Sox marked the first time in the young career of the Tigers left-hander that he had faced big-league hitters.
Even though he looked as poised as any veteran.
Skubal, 24, entered the game in the fourth inning and pitched two innings, allowing one walk, no hits and striking out three on 28 pitches.
