The Detroit Tigers cleared left-handed pitcher Tarik Skubal to return from the 10-day injured list, the team announced Tuesday.
Skubal has been on the injured list since July 9 with an undisclosed injury. He has joined the 60-man player pool and is headed to Fifth Third Field, home of the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens, with the reserve squad.
The Tigers also announced left-hander Hector Santiago has been released. The team removed right-hander Zack Hess from the player pool.
But the most noteworthy move is activating Skubal, a 23-year-old who pitched in nine games and 42u2153 innings for Double-A Erie last season, owning a 2.
