ERIE, Penn. — Mike Rabelo, the Erie SeaWolves manager, sits at his desk in his office. He leans forward and cracks a smile.
“I’m a big Jose Azocar fan,” Rabelo says, the smile holding strong. "I love watching him play."
Azocar is having a fantastic season for the SeaWolves, the Tigers’ Double-A Affiliate, leading the team in hitting at .296 entering Tuesday, good for second in the Eastern League. Azocar went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and scored two runs on Monday night in a 6-3 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs.
“He’s figuring stuff out,” Rabelo said.
