Long-time Detroit Tigers farm-hand Daniel Fields will finally get his first chance in the big leagues as he will be called up to fill in for Rajai Davis, who is going on paternity leave.
A local kid, and son of former major leaguer and former Tigers’ hitting coach Bruce Fields, Daniel was drafted in the sixth round of the 2009 draft. He chose the Tigers and MLB over college ball at the University of Michigan.
A highly touted prospect, he has horribly underachieved and dealt with injury setbacks during his prolonged ascent up the Tigers’ minor league system.
