LOS ANGELES — The Detroit Tigers made a pair of roster moves Monday, as MLB teams were forced to reduce active rosters from 28 to 26 players.
They placed LHP Tyler Alexander (left elbow strain) on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 30. Catcher Dustin Garneau was designated for assignment.
The Tigers Teams could carry 28 players, instead of the typical 26-man crew, for the first month of the season due to the condensed spring training.

There is a 14-pitcher maximum through May 29, thanks to a recent agreement between MLB and the MLB Players Association in an effort to monitor player heath.
