NEW YORK — Ron Gardenhire was asked before Tuesday’s game against the Yankees if there was anything he’d like to see his offense improve on, as if the Detroit Tigers don’t rank dead last or close to it in all major offensive categories this season.

The veteran manager has a point: Through six games, the Tigers have one home run — Christin Stewart’s two-run, 10th inning shot against the Blue Jays on Opening Day.
