Things don’t appear to be getting better for struggling Detroit Tigers pitcher Jordan Zimmermann.
The veteran right-hander had another short outing for the Tigers, lasting 4 u2153 innings in Wednesday’s 4-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies at Comerica Park.
Zimmermann (0-8, 7.57 ERA) allowed four earned runs on eight hits and a walk, and was replaced by Jose Cisnero in the fifth inning with the Phillies holding a 4-0 lead after Rhys Hoskins’ RBI single.
The Tigers (30-67), who were swept by the Phillies (54-48) in the two-game series, had little answer for Philadelphia starter Vince Velasquez (3-5) and the Phillies’ bullpen, mustering just five hits and leaving nine runners on base.
