The Minnesota Twins beat the Detroit Tigers on Friday night in one of the slowest, most unentertaining and lopsided baseball games of the season.
The first two innings took 1 hour, 10 minutes. The next two innings took 54 minutes. By that point, a winner had been declared — the American League Central division-leading Twins, who were ahead by eight runs.
Though both teams were required to play the final five innings of mop-up baseball, the deficit did not change: In the series opener of a four-game set at Comerica Park, the Twins beat the Tigers, 13-5.
