Detroit Tigers observations: Joe Jimenez's struggles costly after 8th-inning comeback

ATLANTA — The scene had long since grown familiar, from the zeroes on the scoreboard to the men left on base.

It was the story of much of the Detroit Tigers’ nine-game road trip.

But in the top of the eighth inning on Sunday afternoon, the Braves afforded the Tigers the slimmest of opportunities to end the road trip on a right note, and they capitalized, at least for half an inning.

Thanks to a pair of misplays, the Tigers (22-34) tied the game on back-to-back home runs. But it would fall apart again in the bottom half of the inning, when the Braves (32-27) scored twice against right-hander Joe Jimenez.
