The game started off ominously, with an “opener” on the mound, and when Buck Farmer’s day began, it looked like the Detroit Tigers were in for another long one.
But after allowing the first two men on base and a run in the top of the first inning on Saturday afternoon, Farmer found his groove. An inning later, JaCoby Jones continued his hot hitting, depositing his seventh home run into the left field seats.
The Tigers wouldn’t look back from there, beating the Twins, 9-3, at Comerica Park. With the win, they snapped a three-game losing streak.
