SEATTLE — If this was it for Matthew Boyd in a Detroit Tigers uniform, then it was a fitting finish.
Boyd, the Tigers’ breakout left-hander, made his final start before the July 31 trade deadline on Sunday afternoon against the Mariners and posted another impressive performance.
He threw 6 u2153 innings of one-run baseball, putting the Tigers in position for a much-needed win at T-Mobile Park.
It wouldn’t be enough. Joe Jimenez allowed a solo home run in the eighth inning and the Mariners won, 3-2, with a walk-off bloop hit to center in the 10th inning.
