These aren’t last September’s Detroit Tigers.
The Tigers, mathematically eliminated from American League postseason contention, defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, one of the best teams in the National League, 5-3, on Friday night at Comerica Park when Jeimer Candelario hit a walk-off home run to left in the bottom of the ninth inning.
It was Candelario’s 18th home run of the season, off a 102 m.p.h. sinker from Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks, capping a well-played game for the Tigers.
Shane Greene picked up the win after preserving the tie in the ninth inning.
It was Candelario's second walk-off home run of the season.
