Detroit Tigers' Nicholas Castellanos must own up to his mistakes

Free Press sports writers Anthony Fenech and George Sipple give their thoughts on the first few games of the Detroti Tigers' 2018 season from Comerica Park.

Nicholas Castellanos was in right field early Friday afternoon. Then he was in center field. And he nearly ran baseballs down into left field.

The Tigers were taking early batting practice at Comerica Park, and Castellanos, the team’s right fielder, was using it as early fielding practice.

He read balls off the bat, ranging left and right and forward and backward.

“You don’t just turn that overnight and all of a sudden you’re going to be a right fielder without work,” manager Ron Gardenhire said.
