“The Detroit Tigers went undefeated in American League play this week,” was not a sentence we expected to type here in the Newsletter-Cave once this season, much less twice.
Of course, they also went winless in the AL this week, but nobody’s perfect, especially the schedule-makers who booked the Tigers into interleague games in 13 of their first 17 games.
Add in a spate of positive COVID-19 tests for the Cardinals, the Tigers’ scheduled foes for half the week, and we were left with three games against the woeful Pirates, who appear to have been assembled this season as a 2019 Tigers cover band: “Hey Buccos, play 'Leave the veteran starter in for five innings after he was bombed for six runs in the first' again!
