The skinny: Boyd, 28, took a big step in 2019, showing significant swing-and-miss improvement, resulting in a career-high 238 strikeouts. But he was victimized far too often by the home run ball – he allowed 39, most in the American League – and his season numbers fell in line with those from the previous year.
