Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera and his wife, Rosangel, are donating $250,000 in response to the coronavirus pandemic to help Detroit organizations that provide for children.
In partnership with the Detroit Tigers Foundation, the donation is being split several ways, the team announced Thursday: $140,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Michigan, Detroit PAL and Brilliant Detroit; $50,000 to the Detroit Public Schools Community District and another $50,000 to the Detroit Public Schools Foundation.
"During these very tough times for all, my wife, Rosangel and I wanted to step up to help the Detroit community that is very special to us," Cabrera said in a statement.
