Tuesday night’s grand slam, helping the Detroit Tigers to a 9-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, might not go down among Miguel Cabrera’s all-time career highlights.
But it must have felt pretty darn good.
Earlier in the day, it was learned that Cabrera's pain in his right knee is “chronic,” most likely ending his season as a fielder and making him a full-time designated hitter. A few hours later, he broke a tie game with his first grand slam since June 1, 2013, at Baltimore.
Cabrera added an RBI double in the first, knocking in Niko Goodrum.
