Detroit Tigers' Matthew Boyd struggles in loss at Minnesota Twins, 11-4

Death, taxes, and Matthew Boyd having a bad final start of the season.

For the fourth straight season, the Detroit Tigers’ left-hander ended his year on a sour note. On this night, he allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings against the Twins.

Boyd’s pitches were elevated and the Twins made him pay by hitting three home runs. The Tigers lost, 11-4.

Boyd allowed six runs on eight hits, struck out three batters and walked two.

The Tigers closed an early gap in the fourth inning, but Boyd couldn’t produce a shutdown inning and the bottom fell out the next half inning, when Sandy Baez allowed four runs.
